Setting up for Success

If you want to win then you better have a plan for action. Sit down and focus on work for 25 minutes at a time, take a break, and repeat as your schedule allows. Changes the game for getting it done!

This blog post is in response to Natalie’s 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge Day 5

While I travel this Earth it can be difficult to find time for work. I gotta pay for these amazing adventures somehow, right? In Day 3 of this challenge I set up my perfect day. It was grand! In that day I laid out time that Erin and I would work on business. Below is my plan to perform focused work in my prescribed time slots.

9:45-10:10 Social Media Management work. I have two clients to work on in this slot. Their stuff is of the norm to me so I can bang out all their FB posts, blog posts (pre-written) for the entire week. This results in very minimal work on their stuff for the remainder of the week. Done and done in 25 minutes of FOCUSED work.

10:10-10:15 Walk around the beautiful pool we have in our “back yard” and take in some sunshine.

10:15-10:40 Work on social media management work for client #3. His stuff is a notch up in my skill sets and I take some time to learn while I work. I need to stay knowledgeable in this game and keep gaining on the leaders in the industry.

10:40-10:45 Grab some more coffee and juice, hit the restroom and come on back.

10:45-11:10 Blog post for this blog. Must keep my followers updated on our amazing travels and what work life on the road feels like. Describe how it takes a daily schedule and routine (as much routine as possible living this travel life), what this lifestyle FEELS like, what it truly involves, and how to be successful in the game.

11:10-11:20 Juice me up! What’s up Erin?! How is your work going? 10 minute break.

11:20-11:45 Research web site development. Taking my web building game to the next level. I want to build websites for small business owners that look great and take their business to the next level. To help others so that they may also be free. Research and learning is key.

My next time for work is the half hour from 17:30-18:00.  I use this final half hour of my work day to check email. Most of it is not terribly important. I schedule time for the rest of the week on any emails needing future attention. Reply to the ones that need it now and kick some ass by focusing and working the full half hour.

That, my friends, is what a 2.5 hour work day looks like. Not quite the four hour workweek but I can dig 10 hours of work a week on average while on the road. Make plan, make a schedule, lay out the three main activities to accomplish for the day, and be the won!

I have Superpowers!

Day 4 of the #10DBC #freedomplan and it is a good one. Time to start thinking about what my business will look like that propels me to the freedom lifestyle I see for myself. Today I am tasked with discussing the superpowers that can be used for this purpose. Finding the intersection of what I enjoy doing, what I am good at doing, and what people will pay me to do equates to the business I desire.

What am I good at? After many years of university I developed powerful research capabilities along with the ability to write about the work and easily convey the results to readers. I was trained to dig into scientific literature and formulate new ideas toward my objective of deeper understanding. I did not enjoy reading and writing about steel but I can translate that into other realms. I currently research many different business cases in my role as a contact center operations specialist. You need information about a certain topic and I can find that information, determine an answer, and write you a summary. These skills will be used in my freedom business and I enjoy learning about new places, cultures, lifestyles, travel routes, etc. I got this!

I enjoy learning about people, where they come from, their life experiences, and interacting with them on a deeper level. Writing about these interaction on my blog will allow me to share these stories with the world and spread the message of love and peace. We are one. We are here for the same reasons. To experience physical incarnation and grow closer to God. I remember multiple interactions with Khmer people during our travels in Cambodia and how their stories of the Khmer Rouge’s destruction in the country affected me like nothing before. An entire country affected by madness of a few. Most everyone alive in that country today knows someone/had a relative lost in that time. Being able to share those stories with others reading across the world can affect change and reduce the likelihood of something like that happening again. Knowledge and awareness are power. I can spread awareness with the written word.

I enjoy helping others. As Erin and I consider what our #freedomplan looks like we see many opportunities in the realm of social media management. We are decent and will get so much better at technology and social media that we will be able to help others grow/manage their online presence and customers that it will be a joy, not work, to develop this business together. We are here to serve and will make our own path in doing so. Love you Erin! Let’s do this! We are good at many things and now is the time for action. DO IT NOW!! That is the mantra moving forward. Here I am doing it now and enjoying every moment. This is not work, this is fun! You all can do it too!

Leave me a comment below, what are your superpowers? What do you enjoy and how can you use that to contribute to the world everyday as you move forward in this life? Do not squander this gift of life, get our there and do what you love and love what you do. No reason just to work for a paycheck to pay rent. Let’s inspire each other to follow that dream, follow that passion deep down. Now is your time!

Be the WON!

See you on the traveling path!

Natalie’s 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge Day 4

Today is the Perfect Day!

“You get there by realizing you are already there.” Eckhart Tolle

Today is my perfect day and here is my schedule:

07:00 Wake up next to Erin in our amazing seaside location and smile at the fabulous life we created for ourselves. Take some time to discuss what we are grateful for and savor the blissful morning vibes.

07:15 Take our coffee on the patio and enjoy the beauty of our current location of Phu Quoc, Vietnam. (Image courtesy of

07:45-08:30 Yoga on this amazing patio as the sun gets higher and higher. Salute that sun! We are gaining strength and practicing mindfulness at the same time. Love us some yoga.

08:30-09:00 Meditation. Today we meditate on the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum, which is a Tibetan blessing of compassion and mercy. We strive to be a greater conduit of God’s energy, which includes our service to others as we travel this Earth.

09:00-09:45 Breakfast is served on this patio!  During breakfast we discuss the schedule for today, which we created last night.

09:45-11:45 Two hours of work. Our work today includes some social media management duties required for our two clients from Panama and our one client from Cambodia. Our work helps these clients reach more potential customers for their business and increase their overall sales. I am working on redeveloping a website for one client in Thailand as well. We work hard for our clients to provide the best social media management in the business so that they may offer their best selves to their current customers.

11:45-13:00 We are walking down to the beach to have lunch in a small family owned restaurant and enjoy the views and relaxing breeze.

13:00-14:00 We decide it is time to relax at our place by the pool and enjoy some reading time. I pick up my current literature on the topic of Angkor Wat since we are headed back to Cambodia for another visit to the temple complex next week. This will be the second time in six months in Siem Reap. I have a client there to visit and update on his social media presence and we just absolutely love the city. Our friend, Aya, is there and Erin really loves to shop with her. Time to get more makeup, Erin says. Erin is currently reading a book on New Zealand travel adventures because we are headed south to New Zealand for a visit with Paul and Carla after Cambodia. Loving this freedom lifestyle!

14:00-17:00 We decide some snorkeling time is needed. We scooter down the island a bit to find this amazing beach location where we can swim around and enjoy the beautiful day and see some wildlife. Having a scooter to get around is such a huge plus. Erin loves to drive now that she is comfortable with me on the back. Our new friends, Joey and Kara, met us at the beach and we took the photo of them below.

17:00-17:30 It is time for a drink and some relaxation as we approach sunset. What an amazing day it has been on this island. I love it here and will most definitely come back again.

17:30-18:00 The work day comes to a close with a few emails to return and some minor modifications to one client’s media planning for the week. Tomorrow I will not have to work at all with all the effort put in today. We will travel to the mainland and begin the journey to Cambodia in the coming days.

18:00-19:00 Shower time! Starts with an outdoor shower to get the ocean salt off of us and then straight into the grand shower this house offers. Cannot beat this feeling! We get all dressed up for our last night on this island and head out for some evening adventure.

19:00-22:00 Dinner at our favorite spot where the seafood was caught today and the locals love to hang with us. This beach restaurant is amazing, the people are so friendly, and the vibe is nothing but fun.

22:00-22:30 Our last item for the day is setting up our schedule for tomorrow. When we end each day with this task it really sets us up for success the next day. This life is to precious to let slip through the cracks. Our mission is to get the most out of every single one and enjoy the NOW!!

See you all tomorrow!

Natalie’s 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge Day 3

I am doing the 10 day challenge behind schedule LOL.

Why do you do what you do?

Great question to ask yourself when considering, well, anything really. “Why do you want to go out to eat?” “Why do you want to watch that TV show?” “Why do you want to go to college?”

In my case the questions go something like this,”Why do you want to escape the normal 9-5 lifestyle?” “Why do you want to travel more and sit still less?” “Why do you want to be your own boss?”

Now the answers are not that easy to verbalize but the feelings and goals exist. With some reflection and internal discussion we can find some real answers to the question, “Why?”

Why do I want to live the freedom lifestyle? To control my life fully and show others that it is possible so that we may all find true freedom. To  be my own boss and succeed so that I may travel when I want and broaden my perspective of the world. To work when I want so that I may have more experiences in life. To take the lessons I learn and help others realize that they are not meant to work just to pay the bills so that they can follow their true passions. We are not placed on this earth to live in the rat race. Follow your passion and true freedom follows. Happiness exists inside of us and is not found outside of us. Traveling more will allow me share this knowledge and to learn other’s perspective on this message.

Why do I want to write in this blog right now? To share my true self with others so that they may have the courage to be theirs. We all participate in the creation of this life and we can all pursue our biggest goals, passions, and dreams.

Be the change you want to see in the world. It is our time to stand up and be that change. For me, it starts with action toward making my own path. That path includes traveling the world. I want to visit 10 countries in 2017. I want to visit my friends Paul and Carla in New Zealand in 2017. It will happen!!

In the meantime, LOVE EACH OTHER!

What Holds Me Back…..

Honesty will win this day!

Great questions to ask me at this time. It seems like I start and stop, back and forth, to an fro with my wants, desires, and ideas about how to get out of the 9-5 lifestyle to travel again and what I want to accomplish on my own terms.

One major item in my life that has caused so much inaction is marijuana. After almost 15 years of daily use I am realizing that smoking marijuana does not serve me. Now I know some in my life would have a big “I told you so,” statement about this topic but I have to figure these things out on my own.

As I start to look deeper into myself, thanks in large part to my amazing girlfriend Erin, I begin to see so many areas needing improvement. Removing daily use of marijuana from my life has allowed me to stick to a good schedule of stretching, yoga, meditation, and better eating habits. All of these things are contributing to a better me that can ask my true self bigger questions and actually find some answers.

If I was high right now I would not be writing this blog post. It truly takes a desire for change and ACTION to make the change you want to see in your own life. Erin has shown me how that is possible and we are striving to be better for ourselves and each other every day. My daily course of action now includes resisting the urge to get high, visit my journal (and now blog posts!), and have a DO IT NOW mentality for whatever needs to get done.

Indecisiveness is a big challenge for me. I tend to get a little wishy washy in my decision-making and it can cause some difficulties in my life, especially in my relationships. I struggle to commit to a decision.  This needs to change.

A book that resonates powerfully in my life is The Traveler’s Gift by Andy Andrews (big thanks to MB for gifting me this book!). In it, the quote, “Successful people make their decisions quickly and change their minds slowly,” resonates with me. Also, “failures make their decisions slowly and change their minds quickly.” Remembering these quotes can provide me with the personal motivation to improve my decision-making and stick with those decisions when made, no more back and forth!

I recite the seven decisions that determine personal success from the book often. When looking at the above quotes I understand that decision-making is a skill that can be learned, practiced, and be a driver towards my success. I made the decision to be up and working on my blog work at 8 am on a Saturday. This is the change I want to see in myself and overcoming the challenge of indecisiveness, DO IT NOW. TAKE ACTION.

Happy Saturday everyone! Get out there and do what you love, shine your bright light, and be happy!
